 DEPARTMENT OF JEWELLERY DESIGN

Marmara University, Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Department of Jewellery Design was established in 1992 and first term of education commenced in the Fall Semester of the same year. The goal of this program is to contribute towards the expectations of the jewellery industry by training and brining up skills who in turn can create own authentic designs by using precious and semi-precious materials after the qualification period.

Department has two ateliers. One of which facilitates design and the other production of jewellery designed in the former, as well as computer assisted design laboratory. As well as pupils are given design and production oriented courses, the substructure of this main theme is supported by teaching of theoretical courses with the content of culture and art history which in turn enables pupils to grasp the historic, aesthetic and cultural substructure of contemporary and traditional arts which ultimately aims to allow pupils to create own authentic designs.

Among graduates of our department so far has yielded, we take pride and honour with those who won several awards in respectable competitions organized by Istanbul Chamber of Jewellery, World Council of Gold, Council of Diamond and Association of Precious Metals and Jewellery Exporters which testify the efficiency and success of the department.
